Tara Weir - FDRP, Collaborative Coach and Child Consultant

Tara is the heart and soul of Family First Mediation. She is passionate about helping families find calm, clarity, and a positive way forward during times of conflict. She believes that every family deserves to be heard, supported, and empowered to create solutions that work best for them.

With over ten years of experience as a Judge’s Associate in the family law jurisdiction, Tara brings deep insight, empathy, and balance to every mediation. Her approach is grounded in respect, transparency, and a genuine commitment to helping families reduce conflict and rebuild trust.

Tara holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Behavioural Studies) and is an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney-General’s Department. She is also an AMDRAS-Accredited Mediator, Certified Child Consultant and Parenting Coordinator, and an experienced Family Group Conference Facilitator and Youth Justice Conference Facilitator. Tara is also a Collaborative Coach who is deeply passionate about helping separated families work through the hard conversations to open a path of peace, certainty and mutual respect.

Her expertise is recognised across the sector, having been selected to support specialist mediation programs with Legal Aid NSW, since 2022 including Specialist Indigenous matters, Care and Protection matters and Court Ordered Mediation.

In 2023, Tara expanded her vision by acquiring The Mediation Centre, one of Western Sydney’s leading mediation practices. Together, Family First Mediation and The Mediation Centre provide a welcoming, child-focused setting where everyone feels supported to resolve disputes respectfully and move toward brighter, more peaceful and certain futures.

Guiding Families Toward Calmer, Clearer Futures

At Family First Mediation and Dispute Resolution, we understand that family challenges can feel overwhelming, but they don’t have to define the future. Our role is to provide a non-judgmental, safe, supportive space where difficult conversations can take place with respect and clarity.

By focusing on solutions rather than conflict, we help families navigate change with understanding, co-operation, and confidence—paving the way for calmer days and brighter possibilities ahead.

Family First Mediation and Dispute Resolution places children and their best interests at the centre of all negotiations, helping parents to remain focused on the most important outcome in family disputes - healthy, confident and happy children.

Strong Referral Network for Added Support

At Family First Mediation and Dispute Resolution, we understand that some situations require more than mediation alone. That’s why we’ve built a trusted referral network of professionals who can provide added support— whether that’s legal advice, counselling, financial guidance, or specialist services for children and families. We connect you with the right people at the right time, so you feel supported throughout the entire process.

In addition, Tara is a member of the Australian Association of Collaborative Professionals and is a skilled Collaborative Coach. A collaborative process can bring all of the important specialists together to help you work through the options in a fully informed manner, to resolve matters amicably.
