Welcome to Family First Mediation and Dispute Resolution

Family First Mediation and Dispute Resolution is a boutique mediation practice offering family law mediation. We provide parties with a safe, structured and supportive environment to discuss, explore and resolve disputes following separation or divorce including parenting matters, financial settlements and child support disputes.

Being a small private mediation practice you will work closely with the Principal Mediator and other experienced Mediators who will walk you through each step of the process with care and compassion, providing you with resources and referrals to help you and your children manage and cope throughout this difficult transition.

Our role is to help facilitate difficult discussions and to provide you with a confidential space to make decisions about what is best for you and your family. We will help you manage difficult conversations around important issues allowing you to move forward following separation.

Principal Mediator and FDR Practitioner

Hello!

I'm Tara, the founder and Principal Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner at Family First Mediation and Dispute Resolution, attaining my accreditation with the  Attorney General's Department and the National Mediator Accreditation System in 2020. I am also a certified Family Group Conference Facilitator and hold a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Behavioural Studies.

Prior to becoming a mediator I worked as a Judge's Associate in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia hearing family law matters for over 10 years. Having seen first hand the devastating effects that legal proceedings have on families including the financial turmoil from meeting ongoing and increasing legal fees, the emotional upheaval and distress caused by the lengthy Court process and the ongoing requirement to adhere to Court orders I decided to dedicate my knowledge, skills and  time to helping families reach a resolution without the need for court determination.

I am passionate about helping families remain future focused and helping them improve their communication, believing that empowering others to resolve their dispute is fundamental in achieving happiness after separation and ensures that children are not exposed to the detriments of ongoing conflict enabling them to focus on being children, and parents being positive role models and co-parents.

As a proud Kamilaroi woman I have a passion for working with Indigenous families and understand first hand the importance of keeping children connected through kinship, family and culture.

Panel of Mediators

Family First Mediation and Dispute Resolution works closely with a panel of highly skilled and  experienced Mediators. It is our priority to ensure your matter is mediated as promptly as possible and with the most suitable Mediator.
